14 Riverwood Students in Youth Leadership Sandy Springs Class

See below: The program is part of Leadership Sandy Springs, in which they learn about the city, investigate its needs, and discover opportunities for leadership and service to the community.

 

In August, Youth Leadership Sandy Springs inducted its second class of high school sophomores and juniors, and began its new year with a 33-member class from seven area schools, the largest representation hailing from Riverwood International Charter School.

The 14 Riverwood students include Michele Avilez, Asher Berman, Rachel Carlson, Megan Cohen, Halle Ewing, Ednand Garduno, Sarah Hamer, Alec Nathan, Madeleine Sibert, Adam Segal, Ari Soran, Jacob Steel, Hanna Wendlandt, and Jack Zucker.

Other schools represented are North Springs Charter High School, Holy Spirit Preparatory Academy, Holy Innocents Episcopal School, Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, The Weber School, Woodward Academy, and Marist School.

Based on application and teacher recommendation, these students have been accepted into this new program that is part of Leadership Sandy Springs, in which they learn about the city, investigate its needs, and discover opportunities for leadership and service in the community.

"I’m really looking forward to getting deep into how the community works, because I’ve never seen City Hall, never met the Council. And I really like the people we’re with," said Riverwood Sophomore Madeleine Sibert. "We have large amount of students – about one-third are from Riverwood. Not only am I meeting kids from other schools, I’m also getting to know kids from my own school.”
