North Springs Students Perform "Hairspray"

Many of the students are already seasoned performers.

Big wigs, colorful costumes and belting songs during a recent dress rehearsal for "Hairspray" had the feel of professional theater, yet it's high school show.

"Hairspray" opened at on Thursday and runs through this Sunday and again next weekend. Students make up the 56-member cast; 25-member technical crew and 20-peice orchestra.

“A lot of schools perform to recorded tracks, but because we have a full orchestra all of our musicals are done by our student musicians,” said director Marty Aikens. “It’s definitely a point of pride for us.”
