Master Craftsman Finds Woodwork Apprentices in Holy Innocents' Classroom
A craftsman from a Maine handcrafted furniture store helped the Sandy Springs students build a rocker.

Middle school students at Holy Innocents’ became woodworking apprentices for a day when Warren Shaw, master craftsmen with Thos. Moser handcrafted furniture in Auburn, Maine, visited the campus to teach the fine art of woodworking.
Shaw is a 20-year veteran of the company. The students – and their art teacher, Maria-Louise Coil—helped build a New Gloucester Rocker, one of the iconic pieces in the Thos. Moser furniture line.
When the rocker was finished, the students signed the bottom of the chair in a signing ceremony, the hallmark of the family-owned furniture company. When a piece is completed, it is signed by the craftsperson who built it.
