Nearby Sandy Springs: The incident started in the parking lot of the police station, went to a gas station, and ended with the man being shot on Ashford Dunwoody Road near Perimeter Mall.
There are no signs along Ashford Dunwoody Road of a Dunwoody Police shooting that occured Wednesday night.
That's in stark contrast to what happened. An erratic driver, starting from Dunwoody City Hall made his way to the "On The Run" Exxon Station across from Perimeter Mall, police say.
He hit several cars in the parking lot and kept on going. Near Ashford Dunwoody and Perimter Center East he was shot by police who were trying to stop the car in the crosswalk, police said.
Police didn't immediately return calls for comment Thursday morning. Department spokesman Sgt. Mike Carlson said that an update would come toward midday.
Dunwoody Patch is also waiting to hear from The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which handles duties in officer-involved shootings.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Ashford Dunwoody Road, wsbtv.com reports. By 8 p.m., multiple police cars were up and down Ashford Dunwoody Road near Perimeter Mall, as police responded to the scene en masse.
The incident started in the parking lot of the Dunwoody Police Station, adjacent City Hall on Perimeter Center East, police said in the report.
Officers started to follow a car because it was driving erratically. The man hit several cars at the Exxon station on Ashford Dunwoody Road, according to the report.
The man then drove out of the station and was headed for Perimeter Mall. Police said the man then started driving toward a Dunwoody Police officer.
The police officer fired and hit the man through the window of the car. The man died from his injuries at a hospital, according to the report.
