Sandy Springs Shoppers Happily Bought Alcohol on Sunday

Liquor stores were open and beer and wine was sold in grocery stores.

 

Many Sandy Springs shoppers had a little pep in their step on Sunday. They were happy to finally be able to buy alcohol seven days a week.

The usually dark beer section at Publix supermarkets was well lit with a flyer covering most of a sign that normally reads "Beer and alcohol is probited on Sunday." Instead, below the words, "By Law" the flyer read, "Sunday Alcohol Hours 12:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m."

At Trader Joe's folks took photos in the wine section and beside its "We Sell Alcohol," sign.

Trader Joe's rang up about $2,000 in alcohol sales per hour, according to manager Matt Wilbanks. Practically every phone call over the weekend was someone asking if the market would be selling wine on Sunday, he said.
