Why Do You Think Ex-Woodland Principal Left?
Former Sandy Springs Principal Dr. Ruth L. Baskerville returned to North Fulton last weekend to promote her novel on the racial culture at a fictional charter elementary school.
Former Woodland Elementary Principal Dr. Ruth L. Baskerville has written a fiction book that she says was inspired by actual events.
It’s titled, “Hoodless Klan: The Racial Takeover of Pine Woods Charter Elementary School." Baskerville returned to North Fulton last weekend to promote her novel on the racial culture at a fictional charter elementary school.
She told Patch she created characters and events in the book to move the story along.

What is your take? Do you think Baskerville left because of racism or was it something else?

Dr. Baskerville neglects to mention in her book that she was hired to replace a principal that was well loved and amazing. Noris Price made Woodland the school of excellence it had become and wrote the original conversion charter. She is now an assistant superintendent for an entire school system. She was also a woman of color. How is it possible that Dr, Baskerville was treated with such racial biase but Dr. Price was not? Dr. Baskerville would walk around school calling other black teachers her "chocolate sisters" - perhaps the racism she experienced came from inside her own head! This "fiction" book leaves many of Ruth's mistakes out of the story. In the end she was let go because her leadership style was reactionary and often inappropriate. I am honestly surprised she wasn't fired sooner. Woodland is slowly limping back after the destruction she caused thanks to the new fabulous leadership of Amy Gamble and Trrry Harness!

As a Jewish, Latino, apartment living, current parent of Woodland, I was shocked and furious as I read her book (which I borrowed). Even though she refers to it as "ficition", Mrs. Baskerville (I will NEVER refer to her as Dr.) should have referred to it as "lies". She tells nothing but false stories which include her taking the adminitration in her office and made them cry (just like a bully). As far as her performance, well I now know that if I was an African American, then I am SURE any request I had for my children would have been honored. But since I am not, our child dealt with a verbally abusive teacher and years of therapy. Thanks Mrs. Bakserville for causing damage to our children! And please remove the Star of David from around your neck, you are showing disgrace to my people. Woodland is a much better and safer place without that racist leading our school! One more thing, Amy Gamble and Terry Harness...thank you for stepping up and taking back the school. We need leadership and we finally got it!
