How to Buy a Telescope as a Gift
Astronomy is truly an interest that can last a lifetime and a telescope makes a wonderful gift for someone who has an interest in the night sky. So how do you choose an age appropriate telescope for a new astronomer? Join the Atlanta Astronomy Club and let them answer your questions and help you to decide what type of astronomy telescope and what type of mount would be best suited for the astronomer on your gift list.

How to Set Up and Use Your New Telescope
Do you have a new telescope? Do you have a telescope sitting around that you’ve never quite learned how to use? Come to this free astronomy class on how to use your new (or unused) telescope. You will get expert help on how to set up and operate it so you too can enjoy the wonders of the night sky. You can bring any type of telescope. Members of the Atlanta Astronomy Club will help you to do more with your telescope in just one hour or so of instruction than you could do on your own in several months. Participants will also be given a list of night objects to see and how to find them. The winter sky offers some of the best objects for a telescope observing session!

SSUMC Hitson Memorial Activities Center is operated by the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. It is located across the street from the church and is used for a wide array of programs, organizations and activities. It has a gym, walking track, classrooms, parlor and chapel. It hosts a variety of summer camps, youth sports, educational and other community programs and organizations.
