Demolition Begins on Former Target Building Making Way for New Municipal Complex

The tear down will take about six weeks and signals the official start of redevelopment in the Sandy Springs' downtown area.

Despite the blistering cold temperatures, demolition started, Monday, on the former Target building on Johnson Ferry Road. 

The tear down will take about six weeks and signals the official start of redevelopment in the Sandy Springs' downtown area. 

Near term plans for the City Center space includes five uses: A residential structure, retail space, office space, a civic building, and a parking structure. 

Last month Kraun explained to Patch that the master developer could deviate from that preliminary plan if their expertise suggests something different.

The Good Will facility will not be torn down in the first phase. 

The parking lot entrance at the former Target is closed at the southwest corner of Sandy Springs Circle. The road will not be closed.
