Free Sunday concert features talented brothers

Pro-Mozart Atlanta presents organist Brink Bush and pianist Frank Mitchell Bush in joint concert this Sunday, November 10

The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta will present Brink Bush, organist, and Frank Mitchell Bush, pianist, in a joint concert Sunday, November 10, from 3 to 5:30 p.m, at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, 805 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA (30327).

Pro-Mozart Atlanta concerts are free, though a minimum $15 per person donation is encouraged, as the concerts serve to raise funds for the organization’s scholarship program. Pro-Mozart Atlanta memberships of varying levels include free concert admission, as well as other benefits. A meet-the-artists reception will follow the concert.

Brink Bush is one of the leading interpreters of German Romantic organ music in the world today. He has performed and made an extensive study of the organ works of the German-American composer, Wilhelm Middelschulte (1863-1943). Bush has performed throughout the United States and Europe and made his German debut at the Berliner Dom in 2001. He was featured on American Public Media’s "Pipedreams" in a program titled Bach, Bush and Middelschulte. His New York debut was heard at Trinity Church Wall Street during the "Virgil Fox Legacy Twenty-fifth Anniversary Concert Weekend” and he is editor of the book “The Innermost Secrets” by T. Ernest Nichols, about the performance technique of the late great Virgil Fox. Brink Bush was most recently heard on BBC Radio 3, Late Junction Show featuring the Perpetuum Mobile of Middelschulte. He presently serves as Organist-Director of Music for St. John's Episcopal Church, Beverly Farms, Massachusetts.

Frank Mitchell Bush has performed in such venues as the International Museum of Photography and Film, Georgia State Convention Center, Citibank of New York, Methuen Memorial Music Hall, and the American Church in Paris. He’s a recipient of the New York Council on the Arts Performance Grant, and has been heard in recital on NPR and CBS television. Bush studied at the Eastman School of Music where he was the recipient of the George Eastman Scholarship, and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria on a full scholarship from Pro-Mozart Atlanta (1996). He was awarded a scholarship by the Emily and Robert Woodruff Foundation for his studies with the legendary Julliard professor Adele Marcus. He was awarded First Prize in the Atlanta Music Club Scholarship Competition and the Southeastern Music Festival Scholarship. Recent and upcoming performances include concerts in Paris and London, at Washington National Cathedral, Carder Steuben 150th Anniversary, and with the Alfred University Orchestra. Bush resides in Allegany County, New York, and is active as a performer and teacher.

The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta (www.MozartAtlanta.com) fosters classical music education and interest in the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (and other composers) through the presentation of concerts and other musical events, and nurtures and develops the talents of young musicians. Among other things, the organization presents an annual scholarship competition, which sends the winners to the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, for a summer of study. Its concerts help raise funds for the scholarship program.
