HomeStretch's 13th Annual Golf Tourny August 4th Expected to Live Up to Its Promise

HomeStretch will once again host what has been called one of the most successful golf tournaments in North Fulton on Monday, August 4th. This year’s event, a four-person scramble, will be held at The Manor Golf and Country Club in Milton, which is home to Georgia’s only Tom Watson-designed championship par-72 golf course. To sign up for the event please visit: https://homestretch.dojiggy.com/registration2/?455721500D750B060D777602125037562F4379020577760301
HomeStretch, a Roswell-based 501(c)3 organization, guides clients to reach goals of stable employment, stable housing, stable finances, and stable families by offering support services -- including financial assistance, literacy classes, vocational training, job readiness skills, transportation assistance, emotional support, and transitional and affordable housing.

“Our golf tournament is one of our longest standing fundraisers,” said HomeStretch Executive Director Rose Burton. “Not only does it benefit the organization financially, but it helps boost awareness in our community about the agency and its mission. It also serves as a catalyst to draw and nurture new volunteers, which our organization depends on to deliver the services we provide.”

Board VP and Golf Chairperson Patty Conard joined HomeStretch as a volunteer after participating in the golf tournament in 2008.

“HomeStretch sets the gold standard when in it comes to transitioning people out of homelessness. It helps the entire family because children see their parents learn the benefits of self-sufficiency and self-reliance,” Ms. Conard said. “The tournament is a great way to support HomeStretch. It’s a great course, and everybody has a good time.”

The annual golf tournament is open to all golfers regardless of skill level. Participants can compete for the longest drive, closest to the pin and a poker hand as well as take part in a raffle and silent auction.  Best of all, first place winners get their picture taken in a classic GREEN jacket! And, as in previous years, area clergy and church members are given the opportunity to participate in the Clergy Challenge.

“The faith communities of North Fulton County are the backbone of support for Homestretch, and the Clergy Challenge is a fun way to show support while having fun for a good cause,” said Ken Swanson, Rector of St. David's Episcopal Church. “St. David's Episcopal Church in Roswell is looking forward to defending its championship, but perhaps other congregations can field challenging teams of players?  While clergy are not required to play, we ask that they consider designating a foursome to represent them.”

There is still time to register for the event or become an event sponsor. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage CARES Foundation has been a tournament sponsor for several years.

“It is important to give back to the communities and neighborhoods in which we live and serve by providing charitable contributions and volunteer support, thereby reinforcing our commitment to creating a lasting source of unity, hope and vision,” said Coldwell Banker Realtor Judy Linderman. “We are very proud to contribute to Homestretch because we appreciate and respect what they do in our communities. We support their mission of providing transitional housing while encouraging lifestyle changes so that people are in a better position to purchase homes of their own upon completion of the program.”
