Remember the time, when you get out and about tonight.

Going out tonight? Watch your time. Daylight savings time starts at 2 a.m. Sunday.

If you have ever wondered how this “time” thing came to take over our lives, an Op-Ed piece in Thursday’s New York Times titled, “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is,” is a fun and  interesting read.

Howard Mansfield explains how clocks were only a necessary means for our need to not be idle. And the railroad is the culprit that really made us start to count the minutes.

Here is what’s happening if you get out this weekend.

  •  In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, hosts its annual Shamrock & Roll. Music starts with Francisco Vidal at 2 p.m; followed by Stevie Monce at 4 p.m; Yacho Rock Revue at 6:30 p.m and Ed Kowalczyk of Live at 8:30 p.m.
  •  The Mosier Brothers play Bluegrass at Music starts at 9 p.m. Saturday.
  •  Comedian Ben Bailey, host of “Cash Cab” on the Discovery Channel, appears at The Punchline at 6 and 8 p.m on Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission $20-$22.50.
  •  Saxophonist Reggie Hines performs at on Saturday, and saxman Gary Harris hosts the weeky All-Star Jazz Jam on Sunday. Music sets start after 9 p.m.
