The 20th annual North Fulton Golden Games are fast approaching, and athletes can still sign up to participate.

The cost is $15 for residents 50 and older who live in Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Milton and Roswell. The games will charge an extra $10 registration cost for bowling and $5 for bocce, however.

Registration costs includes a T-shirt and opening day picnic lunch. Anyone who registers by April 12 will be eligible for a $50 gift card drawing.

The games will kick off on May 1, with an opening ceremony taking place at 10 a.m. at the Alpharetta Community Center at Wills Park. North Fulton mayors during the ceremony will compete in a Minute to Win It-style challenge.

Track and field events, including a one-mile walk and run, half-mile walk, flying disc throw, discus and shot-put throw, horseshoe toss, ladder golf and football throw, begin after the opening ceremony.

Throughout the month, participants can look forward to the 5th annual Wii video game bowling tournament, a dance competition, bunco and poker contests, diving events, a tennis tournament, rounds of corn hole and a softball skill challenge.

Additionally, golfers may sign up as a team or individuals for the always popular tournament slated for Tuesday, May 13 at the Alpharetta Athletic Club’s West Course on Dinsmore Road in Milton. The cost is $45 per golfer.

The closing ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22 at the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex at 6500 Vernon Woods Drive in Sandy Springs.

A final health fair will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center at 830 Grimes Bridge Road in Roswell.

The games are a collaboration between Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell and Milton and are month-long series of Olympic-style activities for north Fulton residents 50 years and older.
