Sandy Springs Playhouse Wins 12 Metropolitan Atlanta Theater Awards

Act3 Productions Patti Mactas repeated last year's win for the Moira Thornett Director's Award for a Musical.

Act3 Productions has won 12 Metropolitan Atlanta Theater (MAT) Awards ranging from Best Leading Actress and Actor, to Best Musical Direction. 

The honors were announced at an awards ceremony last weekend and included honors for Act3 in costume design, sound design, direction, lighting design, youth actor and more. Lyn Taylor won her third consecutive MAT award for Best Musical Direction, while Patti Mactas repeated last year’s win for the Moira Thornett Director’s Award for a Musical.

“The annual MAT awards are not only wonderful for recognizing individual theater professionals and stand-out performances, but the organization also brings us all together to celebration the exceptional work being done by community theaters throughout the city,” said Patti Mactas, Act3 Productions’ artistic director.  “The attention generated by the awards helps fill seats in general, while it raises the bar for the artistic and technical work being done.”

  • Best Leading Actress in a Musical: Ansley Gwinn in Jekyll & Hyde
  • Best Leading Actor in a Musical: Chris Ikner in Jekyll & Hyde
  • Moira Thornett Director’s Award for a Musical: Patti Mactas for Jekyll & Hyde
  • Best Musical Direction: Lyn Taylor for Jekyll & Hyde
  • Best Major Supporting Actress in a Musical: Michelle Davis in Jekyll & Hyde
  • Best Major Supporting Actor in a Musical: Zac Phelps in Jekyll & Hyde
  • Youth Award in a Musical: Matt Alea in Jekyll & Hyde
  • Best Sound Design of a Play: Jarrett Heatherly for The Arabian Nights
  • Best Costumes in a Musical: Brad Dickey for Jekyll & Hyde
  • Best Costumes in a Play: Brittany Quigley for The Arabian Nights
  • Best Lighting Design of a Play: Daniel Pino for The Arabian Nights
  • Best Lighting Design of a Musical: Travis Seminara for Jekyll & Hyde
