Wisconsin Students Help Beautify Forest Preserve

Dozens of students from the University of Wisconsin spent Monday morning planting trees at Sandy Springs' Big Tree Forest Preserve.

Dozens of students from the University of Wisconsin didn't let the rain stop them from performing some community service work in Sandy Springs.

Forty students donated their time by planting trees at Big Trees Forest Preserve on Monday. The students are using their spring break to perform community service.

Despite the rain, they all dug in to remove weeds and help plant shrubbery.

The students were joined by Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul and Councilman Gabriel Sterling in their beautification efforts.

The forest preserve is a 30-acre tree and wildlife sanctuary and is protected in a partnership with The John Ripley Forbes Big Trees Forest Preserve, Inc., the city of Sandy Springs, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Southeast Land Preservation Trust.
