5 Things to do This Weekend: Music, Theater Auditions, Poetry and More

We've got what's going in Sandy Springs and nearby, this weekend.

 

  • Poetry night at Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore. All are welcome to participate in . 7 p.m., Friday. Sign-up starts at 6:30pm. Free admission. The time allotted for each poet will be determined by how many performers sign-up. Time will also be available for latecomers and encores.
  • Jazz trumpeter Joey Sommerville. Ray’s on the River hosts the final installment of its to benefit local charities. The concert will be held on Ray's event lawn overlooking the Chattahoochee River at 2 p.m., Saturday. $35. Proceeds benefit the clean water efforts led by the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. Tickets can be purchased via Event Brite.
  • Auditions for "The Fantastiks" and "Fiddler on the Roof." All roles are available for the in Dunwoody. Auditions will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday. Performers should prepare a two-minute musical number. An accompanist will be provided for those who bring sheet music. Reservations are required for audition - to schedule a required audition reservation or for more information, contact Brian Kimmel.
  • Lynne Koplitz at The Punchline. The actress and stand-up comedienne performs at through Sunday. Visit the website for showtimes and prices. Take a look at the attached video too.
  • The Temptations and The Four Tops. The legendary music groups are part of the at Chastain Amphitheater. 8 p.m., Doors open at 7 p.m. $25-$294.
