5 Things to do This Weekend: Yard Sale, Concerts, and Special Comedy Event

The Punchline in Sandy Springs will hold open auditions, Saturday, for a special Sunday night show.

 

  • Yard Sale Fundraiser. The SSPD Benevolent Fund hosts this  to benefit Jason Sheffield, son of Sandy Springs Police Officer Tim Sheffield, who will be travelling to South Africa to assist Camp Swamp Corps- an organization that gives aid to children in need. 8 a.m., Saturday at 237 Johnson Ferry Road.
  • Mountain Banjo Workshop. Led by musician Matt Kinman - "a master of archaic styles of the Appalachians," is for those who have considered taking up old time (pre bluegrass era) banjo, or for players that are stalled on their progress. 3 p.m., Saturday at Steve's Live Music, 234 Hilderbrand. $35.
  • Special Event at The Punchline. The comedy club hosts open auditions at 10 a.m., Saturday for "NBC Stand-up for Diversity." The first 100 candidates will be admitted for one-minute auditions. Top comics will be picked to perform an a showcase at 8 p.m., Sunday. Visit the website for more information.
  • IL Divo Concert. The singers perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m., Sunday at in Alpharetta.
  • Music at the jazz club. Jazz and R&B Singer Robin Latimore performs at , Saturday night.
