Five Things To Do This Weekend

Sandy Springs happenings include the Atanta Jewish Film Festival, comedy and cabaret fun.

 

Film Festival. This weekend kicks off the at . A production of the Atlanta Chapter of American Jewish Committee, the festival will feature 70 narrative and documentary films - both feature length films and shorts.

Film screenings also include appearances by expert speakers including filmmakers, actors, authors and academics.

Moviegoers have the opportunity to cast a ballot for the Best Narrative and Best Documentary features as well as Best Narrative and Best Documentary short films. Winners in each category will receive the AJFF Audience Award and will be given an encore screening and statuette.

“Stupid Cupid” Cabaret. Ansley Gwinn and Michelle Peck perform an evening of music and stories celebrating the joys and pitfalls of romance and friendship at 8 p.m, Saturday, at the in Sandy Springs. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for children 12 and under, and can be purchased online. Act 3 Playhouse is located behind Trader Joe’s in Sandy Springs Plaza.

Comedian Tommy Blaze at The Punchline. Just in time for Valentine’s Day. Blaze will spin his relationship humor for the Sandy Springs crowd. The stand-up comic has appeared on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” and several sitcoms. Visit The Punchline website for showtimes through Sunday.

Get the kids ready for Valentines Day. is holding a Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The event is free and children can make cards for loved ones. Saturday is also at at 11 a.m. She’ll be reading Valentine-related book Plant a Kiss.

Hammond Park Makes Way for Parents Night Out. The Booster Club for the Sandy Springs Stars Gymnastics Team is having a Parents Night Out, 5:30-9:30 p.m., Saturday, at Gym. Team coaches will be there to supervise and challenge the kids with hours of gymnastics games and activities.  An excellent opportunity for you to enjoy your Valentine's Dinner out together while the kids enjoy pizza and lots of activity (i.e. they come home TIRED!)  To reserve a spot send an email to:  SandySpringsStars@gmail.com, include the childs name, age and your contact name and email.
