Five Things to Do This Weekend in Sandy Springs and Nearby

  • Jazz vocalist kicks off summer concert series. The Virginia Schenck Quartet performs in the free summer concert. Dessert and coffee will be provided - this event is also BYOB. All are welcome. 7:30 p.m., Friday. Doors open at 7 p.m. Babysitting is provided.

  • Sandy Springs Farmers Market. Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee as you shop for locally-grown and just harvested produce, farm fresh eggs and meats, artisan cheeses, breads, jams, jellies, salsas and more. The Sandy Springs Farmers Market is open rain or shine on Saturday mornings through December.
  • 10th Annual Back to the Chattahoochee River Race and Festival. The race starts at 9 a.m., Saturday. is 10 a.m.-2 pm. at Riverside Park in Roswell. The race includes solo and tandem canoe divisions, as well as kayak and sea kayak divisions. Paddlers wanting a competitive race will traverse the ten-mile course, while recreational paddlers will take the 8-mile course. Both include exciting Class I-II rapids and conclude at Riverside Park. Timing officials will be provided by Georgia Canoeing Association. Free.
  • Louie Anderson. The former "Family Feud" host performs at . Thoughout his nearly three decade career in the national spotlight, Anderson won two Emmys, guest-starred in television shows and movies such as, "Grace Under Fire," "Coming to America" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Showtime is 8 p.m., Saturday. $25.
