Five Things to do This Weekend: Movies by Moonlight, Live Music, Art Festival, Jewish History

Weekend happenings in Sandy Springs and nearby.

 

  • Movies by Moonlight. Leadership Sandy Springs' outdoor film series continues Friday with "Dolphin Tale." It's the second of on the lawn at the Sandy Springs Unitied Methodist Church’s Hitson Activity Center. The Hitson Center is located at 86 Mount Vernon Highway. Food, concessions, and local entertainment are offered before each movie beginning at about 6:00pm. Movies begin at dusk.
  • Stand-up Comedy. Bob Marley brings his humor on growing up, marriage and children to The Punchline. He performs through Sunday. Visit the website for showtimes. $15-$20.
  • Four Days of Live Music. Keyboardist William Green and vocalist Kipper Jones perform jazz and R&B at , Friday. Reggie Hine is on saxophone, Saturday. Sax man Gary Harris performs with vocalist Robin Latimore lead the All-Star Jazz Jam on Sunday. And trumpeter Joe Gransden and his big band perform Monday. $10 admission.
  • Roswell Arts Festival. , held Saturday and Sunday, draws quality artisans to Roswell for the benefit of the community and to raise money in support of the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department.
  • Bat Mitzvah Comes of Age. features this traveling exhibition, all day Saturday. It's a collaboration by the National Museum of American Jewish History and Moving Traditions, celebrates the 90th anniversary of the first American bat mitzvah. The exhibition explores the story of how girls, their parents and their rabbis instituted this now widely practiced Jewish ritual. Free.
