Looking back, John Ramsey, whose, six-year-old daughter JonBenet, was found dead in the family's Boulder Colo., basement in 1996, says parents need to do more to protect their kids, particularly in the current age of reality TV and such show as ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ and 'Dance Moms.'
JonBenet Ramsey will forever be remembered as a picture perfect beauty queen.
John Ramsey told ABC News Blogs that he and his wife Patsy, who died in 2006, entered JonBenet in children’s beauty pageants for fun. But, he now believes they may have exposed their daughter to her killer. The few times Ramsey has glimpsed ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ he has found it disturbing, he said.
JonBenet’s murder is unsolved. John Ramsey was a suspect in the case for a while. After JonBenet's death, he and Patsy Ramsey moved to metro Atlanta.
A Sandy Springs suspect
John Mark Karr, who claimed he murdered JonBenet, returned to his father’s Sandy Springs home over the years when authorities were trying to locate him. Neighbors were alarmed in the summer of 2006, when he was brought back from Thailand as a suspect in the case. In August of that year, Karr was cleared by DNA tests as a suspect in JonBenet's slaying.
In June 2010, Sandy Springs Police served him with a restraining order at his father’s home on behalf of a 19-year-old California woman.
Remembering JonBenet, who would now be 21-years-old, Ramsey told ABC news that he and Patsy Ramsey were naïve in putting their daughter on display. Looking back, Ramsey now cringes, he said.
