Clint Eastwood Stops by Sandy Springs' Cafe 290

The actor/director stopped by the jazz club to see trumpeter Joe Gransden perform on Monday.

 

You never know who you will see at , or when that certain someone will pop in.

On Monday night, it was Clint Eastwood.

The actor/director has been in metro Atlanta filming “Trouble With the Curve,” starring Justin Timberlake and Amy Adams.

He stopped by the Sandy Springs jazz club, Monday, to see trumpeter Joe Gransden perform with his big band.

“It was nice. The place lit up when he got there,” Gransden said.

A few days ago, played golf with Eastwood and Timberlake. Gransden and Eastwood became friends after the musician sent Eastwood, a noted jazz lover, a CD of his music, on a whim in 2007. The actor hired him to open for Kenny G at a private party. 

Eastwood stayed for Gransden’s first music set, Monday night. The trumpeter and his 16-piece big band perform on the first and third Mondays of the month.

“The crowd waited until the break and then they came up to his table,” said owner John Scatena. “He was really nice to everybody. He signed autographs and took pictures.”

Other celebrity visits to Café 290 have included Vince Vaughn, actor Keith David, Jackson Family patriarch Joe Jackson, singer Freddie Cole -who performed, musician Alex Bugnon, and basketball legend Julius Erving.
