Moondog Growlers opens in Sandy Springs, Friday morning.

The new store is next door to LA Fitness at 6690 Roswell Road. It’s the third location for owners, Eleanor Benson, Scott Oder and John Doyle. Marietta is home to their first growler shop offering craft beers. They opened a Dunwoody location last June.

“We’ll have a bunch of people come in and say they never heard of it, but more and more people are finding out about it,” Benson said.

The owners feature local breweries such as Sandy Springs’ own O’Dempseys, as well as Sweetwater, Red Hare, Terrapin, Monday Night , Jail House, Strawn, Red Brick and Wild Heaven, a statement said.

They plan to continue to spotlight local and regional offerings. “There are several local brewers in the Asheville area that are creating incredibly interesting beers. Our hope is that we can introduce these craftsmen as well as other southern brewers to the Atlanta area,” Benson said.

“With growlers, you’re getting the freshest beer you can get short of putting your head under the tank at the brewery,” she continued.

Glass growler bottles sell for $5 each and beer fills cost an average of $10 to $20 each.

Moondog Growlers hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday; 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday.
