MendenFreiman Adds New Partner James Kanner

MendenFreiman LLP is pleased to announce that James R. Kanner has joined the firm’s Atlanta office as a partner, effective today. Kanner boosts the firm’s capabilities in its key practices, including business representation and wills, trusts and estate planning. He was previously with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP.

In Kanner’s business practice, he routinely represents buyers and sellers in a variety of mergers and acquisitions, provides counsel to companies in structuring venture capital and private equity investments, and advises on corporate tax issues, including deferred compensation and stock option plan design and operation. His trusts and estates practice encompasses the full range of estate planning and administration for clients ranging from owners of closely held businesses to executives in public and private growth companies, retirees and institutional fiduciaries.

Kanner is a member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and the Atlanta Tax Forum. He is a member and former chair of the Fiduciary Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

Kanner received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his law degree from the Washington and Lee University School of Law, and his L.L.M. in Taxation from Emory University School of Law.
