Where to Find Girl Scout Cookies in Sandy Springs

Less than a year after my wife and I were married, we took her group of Girl Scouts on their annual planned camping trip.

To Jekyll Island's primitive campground.

Which is nowhere near the beach.

In August.

Which is the hottest part of the year.

I've always wondered which meteorlogical genius thought that taking a bunch of kids camping to a tick-infested barrier island forest in the dead heat of summer was a good idea.

The highlight of the trip was a midnight thunderstorm that blew in, which is the only time during the entire weekend that we weren't sweating.

That was more than 18 years ago, and those memories always seem to come back to me at this time of the year, as Girl Scout Cookie sales season gets into full swing.
