P'cheen to Host an Evening of Art Featuring the Work of Jessica Blinkhorn

P’cheen,
a neighborhood institution located in the Old Fourth Ward, is pleased
to present a special holiday art show featuring the work of local
artist Jessica Blinkhorn on Friday December 13, 2013 from 7 to 10
p.m. A visual artist residing in Atlanta, Blinkhorn’s struggles
with muscular dystrophy are represented throughout her work,
dedicated to the evocation of social empathy and advocacy for
individuals with disability issues. Throughout the night, art lovers
are invited to take a journey through the figurative narrative
depicted throughout Blinkhorn’s mixed-media pieces, while indulging
in signature items from P’cheen’s seasonally
influenced menu, alongside an array of beverage options from its
extensive beer and spirit selection.

The
evening will also feature the work of special guest artists
Carly Piccione and Madeline Irene, both former students of Blinkhorn
who have followed alongside her journey for social change. Bold and
brilliant beyond its years, Blinkhorn describes Piccione’s work as
reminiscent of acclaimed Austrian artist Egon Schiele, with the
potential of contemporary British painter Jenny Saville in its
delivery. Editorial and documentary photographer Madeline Irene has
dedicated
her time assisting Blinkhorn with her work and has played a pivotal
role in her current body of work. Irene’s work eloquently captures
her sensitivity through black and white photographs, creating a
beautiful compliment to Blinkhorn and Piccione. For
