CAC Director Welcomes Votes for 'Leader' Award and $2,500 Prize for Center

Tamara Carrera, executive director of the Community Assistance Center, is a finalist for the Telemundo Atlanta/AARP “Leaders of Hope” contest.

Voting is open to the public through Sunday.

Carrera received the Sandy Springs Humanitarian Award last January.

Nominees from the metro-Atlanta area were selected for their dedication to feeding and caring for the hungry. A donation will be made in the name of the winning Leader of Hope in the amount of $2,500 to a qualifying 501(c) 3 charity that will continue the work for the fight against hunger.

Carrera is one three finalists. The two others include Jaime Malina Juarez, a Catholic priest at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Smyrna; and Virginia Eagan, head of pastoral care at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Stone Mountain.
