Volunteers Needed for Better Sandy Springs Day

The 12th Annual Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs Day will be held on Saturday, April 26.

The 12th annual Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs Day, sponsored by Leadership Sandy Springs, is a month away, and volunteers are needed to give a helping hand at parks, schools and nonprofit organizations.

The day of service will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26 and typically features over 500 volunteers who lend a hand to help with anything from landscaping, to painting, carpentry and clean-up projects. 

Residents can sign up today or e-mail vbss@leadershipsandysprings.org to choose which 18 sites they'd like to pitch in and serve.

This year's locations are: Big Trees Forest Preserve, Community Assistance Center, Heritage Sandy Springs, Sandy Springs Library, Sandy Springs Tennis Center, Island Ford Park, Dorothy Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex, Sandy Springs Mission, Mary Hall Freedom House, Ronald McDonald House, Keep Sandy Springs Beautiful, Watershed Alliance—Wright Stream, Ison Springs Elementary School, North Springs Charter High School, Woodland Charter Elementary, Ridgeview Charter Middle School, Lake Forest Elementary School and Sandy Springs Middle School.  

Registration includes breakfast and the first 500 registered participants will receive a free event T-shirt. Mayor Rusty Paul will give a welcome address at 8 a.m. the morning of the volunteer day at North Springs Charter High School.

Now in the 12th year, VBSS has been credited with improvements valued at over $375,000 across the city.   

Space is limited at various sites so participants are encouraged to register early.
