In Memory: Richard Berry, Vietnam Veteran, Passes Away

After his service in the military, Berry worked as an electrical engineer for MARTA for 14 years.

Richard Parks Berry (LTC USAF ret.), 87, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2014, at his Sandy Springs home.

Richard was a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, and married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Beard, on the day of his graduation in June 1948.

He proudly served his country as a United States Air Force pilot for 25 years, which included combat service in Vietnam during 1966-1970. His accolades include the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star.

After his military retirement in 1973, Richard was employed by Atlanta's MARTA public transit system as an electrical engineer for 14 years.

He is survived by Trish, his wife of 65 years, six children, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service and reception for friends and family will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 22  at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church in Brookhaven.
