Versatile Frances Wellstead Became an Expert Dietician After Brain Tumor Diagonosis

Frances Wellstead attended High Point Elementary School and graduated from Ridgeview High School in 1981, in Sandy Springs.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, for Frances Wellstead. An obituary by H.M. Patterson and Son-Canton Hill Chapel described Wellstead as a versatile woman both personally and professionally. She was 50.

Wellstead beat the odds against a fatal brain tumor diagnosed in 2001, in which she was expected to survive five years at most, the obituary said, and became a registered practitioner of macrobiotic dietary practices. 

The Florida native attended High Point Elementary School and graduated from Ridgeview High School in 1981. She went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with Journalism degree.

Professionally, Wellstead worked in medical technology and later became a video producer and director in her own business, the obituary said.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in East Cobb. Donations are encouraged to Curing Kids Cancer,www.curingkidscancer.orgin lieu of flowers.
