UPDATE: Carjackers Shoot Sandy Springs Woman At Apartment Complex

The woman is in stable condition after she was shot in the abdomen during a carjacking at 6957 Roswell Road.

UPDATE at 1:23 p.m: Sandy Springs detectives have recovered the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro belonging to the victim, Monique N. Lassiter, who was shot in the abdomen early Wednesday morning in a carjacking. The two suspects remain on the loose.

The car was recovered in the 4000 block of Roswell Road, Capt. Steve Rose said. 

Lassiter continues to recover at North Fulton Hospital after undergoing surgery, Rose added.

Detectives with the Sandy Springs Police Department are looking for the suspects in a carjacking that resulted in a 27-year-old woman being shot in the abdomen.

The woman, Monique N. Lassiter, is currently in stable condition at North Fulton Hospital after receiving a gunshot wound to the abdomen, the agency said in a press release.

The shooting took place just after midnight Wednesday, July 23 at 6957 Roswell Road. According to police, an "altercation occurred during a carjacking and one victim was shot." 

A vehicle, a yellow 2012 Chevrolet Camaro with black stripes and black wheels, was stolen in the process. The car bears a Georgia license plate, with tag number PCX4436. 

The two suspects in the case are believed to be African-American men, and the shooter is described as a man in his early 20’s, stands between 5'6 and 5'7 and weighs between about 140 and 150 pounds.

He also wore a red shirt and a red bandana over his mouth and nose. There was no definitive description of the second suspect, police said.
