FBI Recognizes Sandy Springs Police

Several police officers received certificates of appreciation from the FBI during last week's City Council meeting.

Several Sandy Springs Police officers received certificates of appreciation from the FBI during last week’s City Council meeting.

Brian Lamkin, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Atlanta division, explained how in February the SSPD helped apprehend a fugitive from Texas, who was wanted for several bank robberies.

“I just want to again reiterate that the partnership we have with Sandy Springs and the leadership that you have with Chief Sult is beyond comparison in the Atlanta area,” Lamkin said.

Officers were called by name to receive their citations, which reads:

“The FBI extends its appreciation for your outstanding assistance in the joint investigative effort. Your contributions were immeasurable. You have the gratitude of the FBI for all you did to help accomplish the objectives of the investigation. You should be proud of the role you played and I join my associates, with whom you work in congratulating you on a job well done. - February 2011, Robert S. Mueller, III, Director of the FBI."
