Fire Damages $1.3 Million Sandy Springs Home

A family of five and two dogs were able to escape the predawn blaze at their home on Stella Drive.

An investigation is underway into what caused an overnight fire that damaged a large Sandy Springs home early Thursday morning.

The fire started at a home, which The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported is worth $1.3 million, on Stella Drive and firefighters from both the city of Atlanta and Sandy Springs arrived onto the scene to discover the fire was coming from the back of the home.

The family of five and two dogs were able to escape uninjured, according to the newspaper.

Crews made their way inside the house to fight the blaze, but were forced to retreat as it no longer was safe, Sandy Springs fire spokesperson Tony Brown told the AJC.
