A man driving an antique vehicle died from injuries he suffered in a three vehicle accident in East Cobb.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, the accident occurred around 4:46 p.m. Saturday, March 22 on Paper Mill Road near Atlanta Country Club Drive.

According to Cobb investigators, a green 1929 Ford Model A was traveling eastbound on Paper Mill Road, driving slowly up a steep grade when a silver 2008 Volkswagen Jetta hit the classic car from behind.

That collision forced the Model A into the westbound lanes on the road, where it overturned and collided with a silver 2004 Toyota Sienna.

The driver behind the wheel of the Model A, Marietta resident Eddie B. Strickland, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger, 67-year-old Lynn Strickland of Marietta was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

A second passenger in the vehicle, a three-year-old male toddler, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Children’s Health Care of Atlanta Scottish Rite Hospital.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Sandy Springs resident Shaina Carter Fernandez, 28, was not injured. The driver of the Toyota, Debra Shuping, 59, of Marietta was not injured in the accident.

The collision remains under investigation, and police expect to file charges once the investigation is complete.

That was just like hitting a go-kart! It was going to flip one way or another. Its a show car not a everyday roll around car.

It will be interesting to learn of the charges to be filed. Unfortunately, we are seeing a large number of wreck less driving accidents with fatalities involving illegal immigrants. Speculation of course, but wondering nonetheless if Ms. Fernandez is here legally. Reason being poor judgement skills behind the wheel.
