Update: Police ID Suspect Following Chase, Gunfire

Sandy Springs Police captured Tommie O’Neal Smith, 27, inside Stone Park Condominiums on Colquitt Road, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Capt. Steve Rose, Smith fled into a wooded area near Pitts Road and Ga. 400 following a police traffic stop, just before 3 p.m. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect until they started to clear the scene. He was spotted on the east side of Ga. 400 and ran into the condominium complex. 

Gunfire was exchanged but no one was hit.

Smith is in custody on a number of charges. He is also wanted in DeKalb County on a warrant for Simple Battery.
