UPDATED 10:15 P.M.: An eyewitness offers more details of the fire.
The Atlanta Fire Department responded to a fire call at Peachtree Bikes at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The business, located at 2823 Peachtree Rd NE, could be seen clearly engulfed in flames on an Instagram post by mr_atlanta_ga, Atlanta's Wesley Lambert. He said it took five minutes from the time the fire started to the start of his video.
He told Patch that a sign appeared to start the fire.
"The neon sign blew up and started the fire. We were at Fellini's next door and rushed over. Saw fire start!," Lambert sent in an email to Buckhead Patch.
He added a few more details about what they saw. "We heard a loud explosion and scream from our seat outside Fellini's and rushed over to see black smoke coming from the sign and then it burst into flames setting off the fire inside. The sign popped dozens of times as the front windows shattered from the debris."
It appeared to Lambert that it was the new neon sign that exploded.
Officers from the Atlanta police department were first on the scene, and supplied the photo shown with this photo.
