North Springs Student in Police Custody; School Released from Lockdown

The student had a weapon and is expected to be charged.

North Springs High School was on a temporary lockdown this morning and a student was taken into custody.

About 10 a.m., police received a call regarding an armed student at the school. According to Sandy Springs Police Lt. Steve Rose, a student notified a teacher that he saw another student with a gun at the school bus stop. 

The student, a juvenile, was spotted leaving the rear of the school gymnasium. He was taken into custody by police K-9 officers and school resource officers. The weapon was located and determined to be an Air Soft gun.

The student is in custody and expected to be charged. The school was released from lockdown about 10:45 a.m.
