Drop-off Old Prescription Drugs at Sandy Springs Police HQ, Saturday

Unwanted prescription drugs can be taken to Sandy Springs Police Headquarters.

Citizens will once again have an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted prescription drugs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, at Sandy Springs Police Headquarters.

It's National Drug Take Back Day. Police Headquarters are now located in the City Hall complex, at 7840 Roswell Road, suite 301.

In 2010 and last April, the Drug Enforcement Agency partnered with local law enforcement for National Drug Take Back Days, to combat abuse of prescription drugs. Nearly, 4,000 state and local law agencies collected more than 309 tons of pills. More than 80 pounds of prescription drugs have been turned into Sandy Springs Police.

Last fall, President Obama signed the Safe and Secure Drug Disposal Act of 2010, which allows the DEA to develop a process for people to safely dispose of prescription drugs. Take Back Days will continue to be held every six months until the DEA’s process is complete.
