Pedestrian Hit by Car: Two Versions to Story

Sandy Springs Police say the incident happened about 1 p.m., Friday.

 

 

A driver and a pedestrian, who was hit by an auto, have been charged and released following an incident at Long Island Drive and Lake Forrest Drive, Friday afternoon.

According to the Sandy Springs Police report, a motorist, identified at Denis Reggie, was at the intersection in his Porsche vehicle. The flagger, Peter Statia, signaled the motorist to proceed. The two gave officers different accounts of the sequence of events. The motorist told the officer that the flagger charged his vehicle and as a result, his foot was run over as the motorist drove away. The flagger said the motorist intentionally drove towards him, striking his arm and running over his foot. No independent witnesses were at the scene.

The driver, Denis Reggie, was cited for Hit and Run and released at the scene.

The flagger, Peter Statia, was cited for Simple Assault, and was treated and released from St. Joseph’s Hospital.
