Updated: Pedestrian Killed Crossing Sandy Springs Street
The accident occurred Wednesday night.
A pedestrian suffered head trauma and died after being hit by a car in Sandy Springs, Wednesday night.
Julie Marcella Hernandez, 39, of Sandy Springs, was struck by a vehicle around 8:30 p.m. while crossing Hammond Drive near Barfield Road. Hernandez was male, but transgender, police said.

Hernandez was taken to Grady Hospital and later pronounced dead from head injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not charged in the accident, said Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Steve Rose.
