Police Arrest Sandy Springs Bank Robbery Suspect

Peter McCutcheon is accused of robbing two banks on Roswell Road in May and other banks across metro Atlanta.

A man wanted for allegedly robbing two banks in Sandy Springs and others across metro Atlanta has been captured.

Chamblee police on Monday arrested Peter McCutcheon of Cumming, who is wanted on robbing several banks in Alpharetta, Atlanta and Gwinnett County.

McCutcheon was arrested by Chamblee police on criminal trespassing charges, according to a press release from the Sandy Springs Police Department.

The suspect allegedly gave Chamblee police a false name until he was confronted by agents with the U.S. Marshal's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, who positively identified McCutcheon.

McCutcheon was transported to Sandy Springs Police headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives and was later transported to the Fulton County Jail.

Sandy Springs police believe McCutcheon was behind the robbery of Regions Bank at 6637 Roswell Road, which occurred on May 29, and Best Bank at 8331 Roswell Road, which happened on May 19.

According to incident reports released by the agency, bank employees said the suspect entered the bank, grabbed a deposit slip, approached the teller and handed them a note.

The employees said the note informed them the suspect had a gun, and demanded they give him the money in the cash register.
