Recent Burglaries in Sandy Springs

Sandy Springs Police Lt. Steve Rose provides a sampling of recently reported burglaries. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Burglaries reported Sept. 17-22.

Winding River Drive. The owner of a condo said a former tenant illegally entered the condo and stole several items.

Preston Woods Trail. The victim said someone kicked his door and stole several items.

Spalding Trail. Someone forced a window to the victim’s apartment and stole several items. The victim was gone from Sept.16-21.

Abingdon Way. A woman reported that she left her house between 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. She returned to find that someone had gotten in by breaking a sliding glass patio door. Missing items included credit cards, costume jewelry, and loose coins.

Old Maryland Chase. The victim said he returned home from a weekend away and found the back window to his home was open. The victim found a wire that appeared to have been used to slide through the middle of the window and eventually open it. The entry triggered an alarm and it appears that the suspect may have aborted the burglary and fled. Nothing is missing.

In the 5600 block of Roswell Road, T-Mobile Company reported a burglary. It appears that someone entered an adjacent business and went through a wall to get to the store. Nothing was reported missing at the time.

In the 400 block of Huntcliff Village Drive, a resident reported that someone came in, most likely through an unlocked window, and took an I-pad. She was gone from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Monticello Drive. Officers were called to a burglary-in-progress call at about 12:37 p.m. They spoke with the resident who said two suspects, Hispanic, entered her residence through an unlocked back door. The victim was in her bedroom and when she heard the noise downstairs, she yelled for them to get out of her house. One of the suspects said, “Sorry, we thought this was an open house.” They then left.

One suspect is a Hispanic male, 6-feet tall and 150 lbs, bald with a black moustache. He wore a green sweater and khaki pants. The other suspect is a Hispanic female,  5-feet-4 and 300 lbs. She had blond hair and wore a white sweat suit with black stripes on it. She also had on “loud smelling” perfume. Nothing was taken.

In the 1200 block of Huntcliff Village Drive, a woman reported that someone forced her front door in and stole several items.
