Sandy Springs Firefighter Is Finalist In National Anthem Contest

Mark Ware and Rodney Brooks are vying to perform the Star-Spangled Banner at a fire protection conference in Las Vegas.

Mark Ware, a firefighter with Sandy Springs Fire Rescue Department, has made it to the final round in a national contest to perform the Star-Spangled Banner in June.

Ware, along with Rodney Brooks of the Henry County Fire Department, are the finalists to perform the national anthem during the opening general session at the National Fire Protection Association’s Conference and Expo in Las Vegas.

The conference will be held June 9-12 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

Residents can visit the NFPA's website to cast their votes for Ware and Brooks, or the other contestants. The deadline to cast votes is April 4, and the votes will help NFPA determine the winner.
