UPDATE: Sandy Springs Officer Involved in Wreck on Ga. 400

The officer was completing an accident report in the emergency lane when another vehicle rear-ended the patrol car.

UPDATE at 5:56 p.m.: The officer involved in the accident has been identified as Mike Stark. 
 
Capt. Steve Rose with the Sandy Springs Police Department said Stark is in stable condition at North Fulton Hospital and is "expected to fully recover."

The other driver's name is being withheld pending notification of the family.

"Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening," he said. "No charges have been filed at this time."

ORIGINAL STORY

An officer with the Sandy Springs Police Department was involved in a two-vehicle accident on S.R. 400 just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.  

The officer was in the right emergency lane while completing an accident call when his patrol vehicle was struck from the back" by another vehicle that had crossed over" into the emergency lane, Capt. Steve Rose said. 

Both drivers were transported to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell with what's believed to be non-life threatening injuries, Rose added. 

Sandy Springs has requested the Georgia State Patrol to investigate the accident, and both vehicles are still at the site of the accident.

No charges have been filed, and the names of the drivers are being withheld at this time, Rose stated.
