Sandy Springs Police Department Turns 5-Years-Old

The SSPD mission statement reads: "To prevent crime and enforce the law through problem–solving partnerships."

The Sandy Springs Police Department started July 1, 2006.

Crime has dropped significantly. Residents say their calls are answered much more quickly than before cityhood. And Chief Terry Sult has repeatedly said that residents play a big role in helping police officers fight crime.

The Citizens Police Academy has a wait list that runs into March 2012.
