Sandy Springs Police to Host Annual 'National Night Out' for Community

The event started in 1984 to heighten awareness and strengthen participation in local anti-crime efforts.

 

Sandy Springs Police will join law enforcement across the county to host National Night Out, in their respective communities, next month.

“National Night Out” started in 1984 to heighten awareness and strengthen participation in local anti-crime efforts. By 2009, attendance across the country had swelled to 36 million people in 15,000 communities.

Collectively, the events bring a heightened awareness of crime prevention and police community-partnerships.

Locally, the free event will be held from 6-8 p.m., Aug. 7, at Hammond Park. Personnel and vehicles from all three of our First Responder agencies will be available at the event. Plus, a citizens will be treated to a special guest appearance from the Sandy Springs Fire Department clown, known as Mac.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, beverages and other delicacies will also be available.
