Sandy Springs Police Will Hold Drug Take Back Day

The agency will join hundreds of other law enforcement agencies who will participate in the nationwide initiative.

The Sandy Springs Police Department will join in a nationwide attempt to get unused prescription drugs off the street on Saturday.

The agency will participate in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Drug Take Back Day on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its headquarters, 7840 Roswell Road Building 301.

This will be the fourth year Sandy Springs Police has participated in the program. Last year, the police department took in over 100 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs.

In the previous four national initiatives, the DEA, along with local, state and tribal law enforcement agencies, collected over 2 million pounds of medications. 

Drug Take Back Day provides residents a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposal also educates the public about the potential for abuse of these medications.
