Sandy Springs Police Arrest ATM Robbery Suspect

Police charged Lando Renard Carter with the robbery of an ATM technician on May 11.

Sandy Springs Police and FBI agents have arrested 27-year old Lando Renard Carter of Sandy Springs, charging him with the robbery of an ATM service technician at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 1134 Hammond Drive, according to Police Lt. Steve Rose.

The robbery took place on May 15. The technician was making a service call at the machine at 9 a.m. on a Sunday morning when he was approached by a black male who pulled a weapon and forced the technician to place an undisclosed amount of money into a black bag. The suspect then ordered the technician into his service vehicle before fleeing on foot. The technician saw the suspect enter a black SUV. He followed the suspect onto Glenridge Drive but broke off when the suspect fired at him.

Carter, who listed 6180 Aberdeen Drive as his address, was arrested on Monday morning at the Homestead Suites on 1050 Hammond Drive. He was taken into custody without incident.

Carter’s girlfriend, 32-year old Amy Lammers, also from Aberdeen Drive, was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Reckless Driving stemming from her attempt to flee the scene during the arrest. Her three children, who were at the scene at the time of arrest, were turned over to a family member.

Carter is charged with one count of robbery and is in federal custody at the Atlanta Detention Center. He is expected to be tried under federal jurisdiction. Lammers was taken to the Doraville Jail and charged under city ordinances.
