Sandy Springs Weather Update: Home Fire on Huntcliff Trace

At 3 p.m., home power outages in Sandy Springs totaled approximately 1,600, but had been reduced to 23 by late Wednesday night.

According to the Sandy Springs Police Department Facebook page, a fire broke out Wednesday evening in the 9000 block of Huntcliff Trace.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze, which was said to have started in the chimney. No injuries were reported, but the home sustained extensive damage.

Earlier Wednesday, wintry conditions led to power outages at various spots across the city, including on Winterthur Lane near Northside Drive and also on Northwood Drive near Sierra Place.

As Sandy Springs road crews were actively out treating roadways - focusing on priority roads - among the roads closed on Wednesday included Dunwoody Club Drive between Jett Ferry and Dunwoody Creek Court; Heards Ferry Road between Northside to Riveredge Parkway; Northridge Road between Roswell Road and Roberts; Colquitt Road between Northridge Road and Pitts; and Powers Ferry Road between Mt. Vernon Highway and Crest Valley.
