Woman Hit, Killed After Walking Onto I-285 West

A Sandy Springs woman was apparently walking on the interstate Sunday night when she was struck by a tanker truck and killed.

A Sandy Springs woman was killed Sunday night just after 10 p.m. while walking on Interstate 285 West at Roswell Road, according to the police department’s Facebook page.

Zaka Marie Bleicher, 37, of Sandy Springs, was killed when she was hit by a tractor-trailer truck. The police investigation shows that Bleicher apparently walked into a lane of I-285 West and was struck by a tanker truck. 

The driver of the truck pulled over and called 9-1-1 to report the accident. On arrival, officers found Bleicher dead at the scene. 

No charges have been filed against the truck driver at this point, however the accident is still under investigation.
