Belinfante Leads Fund-Raising for Senate Race

Candidate brings in $73,627 for first quarter of year

 

Sandy Springs' raised $73,627.92 in this year's first quarter to take the lead among candidates seeking the GOP nomination for the State Senate District 6 seat.

Belinfante had raised $202,985 for his campaign through March 31, according to the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission website. He has more than 500 supporters, according to a news release from his campaign.

Candidate l, the leading fund-raiser through the last quarter of 2011, raised $52,260 for the first quarter of 2012, bringing his total contributions to $196,765, according to his campaign report filed with the campaign finance commission.

Candidates Elizabeth Beskin and Drew Ellenburg trailed in campaign contributions for the July 31 primary.

Meanwhile, incumbent Democratic Sen. Doug Stoner, who will face the GOP opponent in the November general election, raised $4,800 for the quarter, bringing his contributions for the election to $64,065.41.

Under reapportionment last year, the district now includes parts of Buckhead, along with Sandy Springs and Vinings.
